PRP Microneedling

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) Therapy, popularised by Kim Kardashian is one of the latest skin care treatments taking over London. At The Treatment Rooms in London our Doctors go the extra length to making sure your treatment gives you the glow and skin surface texture you want!

Patients can choose to have this treatment if they:

  • Want to treat post acne scarring
  • Would like a glowing skin complexion
  • Would like to use natural products instead of artificial chemicals

Below you'll see a video demonstrating how the facial is carried out using the microneedling pen, including treatment to reduce the appearance of under eye dark circles.

What is PRP Therapy?

Platelet rich plasma therapy is a non-surgical and natural treatment using your own body’s healing mechanism to trigger new collagen production. For hair loss it can be performed to stimulate hair growth.

The method uses platelets from your own blood which activate natural healing processes in the skin.

What is the process?

The procedure involves taking a sample of your blood and extracting the part containing PRP (this is much like having a routine blood test). The PRP is then re-applied back onto your own skin during microneedling or microdermabrasion. The micro-channels created with the procedure allows the PRP to penetrate deeper into the skin.

What areas can be treated?

  • Face, to treat frown lines, crows feet, loose skin, dark under eye circles and scars
  • Body, to treat stretch marks, scarring and cellulite
  • Scalp, hair loss or hair thinning

Are there any side effects?

There can be some swelling and redness for up to 24 hours.

Is the procedure painful?

A topical numbing cream will be applied to the area being treated to ensure the procedure is comfortable. For the scalp a local anaesthetic is injected to numb the scalp.

What results should I expect?

Within 2-3 weeks you should see a noticeable improvement in the skin’s tone and texture. Collagen takes up to 3 months to fully regenerate. A reduction in hair loss is visible within 8 weeks. Between 3-6 months after the last treatment is when you should see complete hair re-growth.

In most patients results last up to 24 months. Touch up treatments are recommended every 3-6 months in order to maintain the results.
