We are delighted to announce our very own lead hair transplant surgeon, Dr Fernando has been appointed into the Executive Committee for the British Association of Hair Restoration Surgery, (BAHRS).
What is BAHRS?
BAHRS is a non-profit association of professionals with an interest in hair loss, hair restoration including hair transplant surgery, hair research and education. It works to put in place standards for its members when it comes to treating hair loss.
Dr Fernando- Executive Committee for BAHRS
His role in the committee will be Treasurer for BAHRS. This role will be an incredibly important one as he looks to expand the association. He is welcoming new members into the association as a way to further its reputation.
It is a privilege to be a hair transplant surgeon and now a committee member for the British Association of Hair Restoration Surgery. I fully support the organisation’s work putting professional and ethical standards in place when it comes to hair restoration surgery. I look forward to being part of BAHRS’ journey over the coming years as it heralds a new era of hair restoration for existing and new surgeons.
Dr Fernando takes huge pride in giving patients the opportunity of restoring their hair. Having now co-founded and established South London’s first hair transplant clinic he looks forward to welcoming more patients. Hair transplant surgery is one treatment alongside many other non-surgical treatments provided by The Treatment Rooms London. Dr Fernando’s aim for each patient is to create a holistic treatment plan to restore hair for the future. This can include a combination of both surgical and non-surgical options for hair loss treatment.
Also, by being part of BAHRS he will further his professional development particularly around novel therapies for hair loss. These will include:
- Stem cell therapy for hair loss
- Topical medications to prevent hair loss
- Hair cloning

The Treatment Rooms London lead hair transplant surgeon, Dr Dilan Fernando has been elected advisory board member at The London Aesthetics Show.
The London Aesthetics Show is launching Spring 2020 and seeks to champion patient safety and awareness in the aesthetics industry. With an increasing number of patients opting for aesthetics treatments; safety and regulation within the UK landscape is a priority. The London Aesthetics Show is the first conference to bridge the gap between cosmetic clinics and patients. It gives the chance for patients to meet with Doctors, Surgeons and practitioners alike. In this forum, patients will have the opportunity to ask them questions relating to treatments they are interested in.
What will Dr Fernando’s role be at The London Aesthetics Show?
On the board, Dr Fernando will represent hair transplant surgery and the patient safety issues that surround treatment. He is excited to represent a treatment that is growing in popularity over the last few years.
I am excited to be elected onto The London Aesthetics Show board. Hair transplant surgery is a complex treatment and patient safety is a priority. In lieu of the ISHRS’ recent Black Market Hair Transplant campaign launched in 2019, I look forward to highlighting both the BAHRS and ISHRS’ professional codes of conduct around patient safety to those attending and exhibiting at The London Aesthetics Show Dr Dilan Fernando, Lead Hair Transplant Surgeon at The Treatment Rooms London and Member of the British Association of Hair Restoration Surgery
What will Dr Fernando speak about?
Dr Fernando will highlight the issue of unregulated, black market hair transplant clinics that put patient safety at risk. Any patient that seeks hair loss treatment needs to have a proper consultation. This requires a full assessment of hair loss to date and then a plan for the future.
In today’s global market of hair transplant surgery, we are finding patients are quickly ushered into choosing a hair transplant. This is without any regard to their outcome and their expectations for results. Patients require a holistic plan to account for hair loss and the future. This may mean delaying a transplant in a patient’s best interests until their hair loss stabilises. At The Treatment Rooms London we are also seeing an increasing number of patients having their hair ruined following a transplant. Their complications range from poor hair growth results through to disastrous skin necrosis.
Skin necrosis is a never event in hair transplant surgery. This means that a patient should never suffer from this complication. A surgeon who has carried out the transplant which has resulted in skin necrosis has clearly shown some degree of poor technique. I will be looking to highlight and address this issue at The London Aesthetics Show.

From all of us at The Treatment Rooms in London we wanted to say a big thank you to every patient that has seen us in 2018 and a Happy New Year 2019! In this short blog we wanted to share some highlights at The Treatment Rooms.
What a year…
2018 saw The Treatment Rooms open up a second clinic location in Harley Street giving patients access to our specialists. We have seen patients far and wide, one patient even travelling from Los Angeles to have their hair transplant carried out by The Treatment Rooms London. We are extremely privileged to meet patients from diverse backgrounds. Our surgeons often spend a whole day with their patients which means they get to know them well- truly an added perk of the vocation!
With the growing success of The Treatment Rooms London, Managing Director Dr Vara was invited to speak at 2 of the leading aesthetic conferences, sharing his experiences in starting and growing a clinic. At both CCR Expo 2018 and Aesthetic Medicine Live 2018 he was delighted to have an engaging audience, guiding them as they start up their own clinic.
With more and more patients choosing to see the Doctors at The Treatment Rooms, in 2018 we welcomed two new Doctors to the team- Dr Umaira Ashraf and Dr Masooma Rizvi. Both have brought new expertise and skills to the table and we have enjoyed welcoming them into The Treatment Rooms’ Family!
As The Treatment Rooms bids farewell to 2018 we wanted to reiterate how much we love seeing new and old patients coming into our clinic. We are proud to be part of your treatment journey and look forward to seeing you all in 2019.
What we are looking forward to in 2019…
As we welcome 2019 all of us at The Treatment Rooms London are excited to bring in some new changes! For our patients who visit us in Putney you will see a renovated clinic reception area where you will be able to check-in. We have designed it to be warm in winter and temperate in summer- shielding you from the haphazard London weather!
We are also welcoming many new hair transplant, thread lift and advanced aesthetics treatment bookings for early 2019. For this reason, we have recruited extra nurses, doctors and surgeons to ensure high quality and safe treatments continue every single day.
New Clinics in 2019
Because there are many patients in the UK and Internationally who are asking for our services, we are now expanding to 2 international locations. This means Hair Transplants, PDO thread lifts and advanced treatments by The Treatment Rooms London are going to be accessible for those patients further afield. We look forward to sharing more about these clinics with you over the coming months!
And with that we bid farewell to 2018 and wish you a Happy New Year. We are excited to share 2019 with you all!
