A receding hairline transplant can cost anywhere between £3,000 to £10,000. The price is primarily dependent on how many grafts you require for your transplant and this will reflect the level of your hairline recession. Clinics will charge different prices depending on a number of factors. In this article we will go through the main considerations when it comes to the cost of a receding hairline transplant, including:
- How much hair loss have you had?
- What hairline do you opt for?
- Do you want an unshaven FUE hair transplant (UFUE) for your receding hairline?
- The Surgeon's experience and skill
"Hairline hair transplants provide an incredible transformation for my patients who have receded. The cost for surgery can only truly be determined during an in-person consultation so I encourage my patients to see me to discuss their options and the price for their bespoke plan."

Receding Hairline Hair Transplant Surgery
A receding hairline hair transplant involves transplanting grafts (hair) from the back and sides of the scalp to an area of thinning or balding for example- a receding hairline. There are 2 main techniques for extracting the hair:
- FUE Hair Transplant Surgery - this involves cutting each hair individually out and relocating them into a receding hairline
- FUT Hair Transplant Surgery- this involves cutting a strip of skin from the back of the head and then using this hair to transplant into a receding hairline
Receding hairline transplant cost
The main factor deciding the cost of a receding hairline transplant is the number of grafts you will require to restore hair in your new hairline. This can only be determined during a face-to-face appointment with a hair transplant surgeon. At The Treatment Rooms London, the cost for a receding hairline transplant will range between £3,000 to £10,000. This will cover surgeries that require between 500-2000 grafts. You can see a collection of hairline transplants in our patient gallery.
How much hair loss have you had and how does this affect the cost?
If you have lost a minimal amount of hair in your hairline, you will require less hair to be transplanted. This will mean the overall cost of your hairline transplant is lower. Such cases can be seen here: hairline transplants 500-1000 grafts. The price for such surgery can range between £3,000- £5,000.
The more hair you have lost the larger a surgery you may require. As a result, the cost of your receding hairline transplant will be higher. Such cases can be found here: hairline transplants 1000-1500 grafts. The price for such surgery can range between £5,000- £7,500.
If you have advanced hair loss, understandably your receding hairline transplant will cost more. Such cases can be seen here: hairline transplants 1500-2000 grafts and here: hairline transplants 2000+ grafts. The price for such surgery can range between £7,500- £10,000.
Sometimes we recommend patients who require large transplants for their hairline, split their surgery over 2 sessions to ensure safety and a better quality result. This will mean a separate price for each surgery. Our Surgeons will be able to provide you the price for such a plan in your face-to-face appointment.
What hairline do you opt for and how does this affect the cost?
If you opt to restore your hairline a small amount with a hair transplant then the cost won't be as much as if you lower your hairline drastically especially if you have advanced hair loss.
You will need to discuss your goals and expectations for surgery with your hair transplant surgeon. The position of your hairline that you are planning is best guided by a Surgeon as they will need to appraise the health of your existing hair and what would best address your concerns.
Our recommendation is always to be conservative with a hairline as you have a finite amount of hair on the back and sides that you can transplant. Transplanting too much for receding hairline risks you not having enough on the back and sides in case you wish to have surgery again. This rationale will also lower the cost of your receding hairline transplant.
Do you want an unshaven FUE hair transplant (UFUE) for your receding hairline?
The cost of a receding hairline transplant will also be influenced by your wish to have an unshaven transplant. As an unshaven hair transplant takes more time and diligence by your Surgeon when operating. As a result, you can expect an unshaven receding hairline transplant to cost more than a regular hairline transplant where the whole head is shaved.
The Surgeon's experience and skill
The cost of a receding hairline transplant will also depend on a Surgeon's experience and skill. A hair transplant surgeon who has years of experience in operating on receding hairlines can give you the extra reassurance that you are in safe hands for your surgical procedure but also with a Surgeon who is able to manage your recovery should things not go to plan.
At The Treatment Rooms London, our hair transplant Surgeons operate on hairlines 87% of the time. They are both highly experienced in planning and operating on a receding hairline- having done so they opened the clinic many years ago. These include patients who are male, or female or identify as transgender/non-binary trans feminine. They are experts in being able to counsel patients on what hairline they should opt for and the key considerations they will need to make when operating on a receding hairline.
Furthermore, our Surgeons carry out all major aspects of hair transplant surgery, including:
- Extraction of hair
- Re-implantation of hair using an implanter pen or the DHI method
This means our Surgeons are hands-on throughout your surgical process. They are actively involved in re-implanting hairs to match your natural hair direction and angulation, so when your new hairline grows it blends in with your existing hairstyle seamlessly. As a result, the price for a receding hairline transplant will reflect our high standard of care.

FUE HAIR TRANSPLANT REVIEWS
The clinic is very clean and maintained to a high standard. Dr Vara was very professional, knowledgeable and caring. He was able to answer any questions I had and took the time to listen to any opinions I had. After the initial session Dr Vara has regularly kept a check on my progress and is there to answer any questions I have.
Having thought about hair treatment for a long while as my hair has been receding around my temples, I was relieved to meet with Dr Fernando who made me very relaxed and developed a clear management plan for my hair loss. My hair loss is now under control and I couldn't be happier!
Dr Fernando provided sound knowledge on FUE hair Transplant during my consultation, whilst showing genuine interest in my requirements and concerns. After the surgery, Dr Fernando kept in contact to hear my progress. I highly recommend them for their quality of work, patient care, good practice and competitive pricing.
From start to finish Dr Vara, Dr Fernando, and their wider team have been top class professionals. Everything from the initial consultation to the after care has been done to an extremely high standard, I can't stress this enough.
No doubt if I ever need another procedure (thanks genetics), I'll be sticking with the incredible team here.
The guys at The Treatment Rooms are seriously some of the best hair transplant surgeons in the UK.
I researched for months and went to countless consultations all across London, Manchester and Newcastle. Not only were they amongst the 'best value' for the number of grafts I needed, but Dr Fernando and his team were welcoming, knowledgable and walked me through the procedure from beginning to end with more detail than any consultation prior.
The actual treatment itself was a lot less painful than expected. I was made to feel incredibly welcome and comfortable throughout the day - from preparing films for me to watch through to even providing me with drinks and lunch for that day. Most importantly, the results are fantastic, and I am delighted with how quickly I have seen a change to my hair line.
Dr Fernando is one of the nicest doctors I've ever met. He went above and beyond in helping me with my concerns and providing personalised advice for me. I will be forever grateful.
