When ‘Nice Hair Transplant’ Isn’t The Compliment You Were Hoping For…
When our repair surgery patient Shaun Farley mentioned this in his interview on ITV’s This Morning, it stuck with us: when someone says “your hair transplant looks good,” it should not be the first compliment you were hoping to receive after getting one.
It’s natural to want your hair transplant to look as natural as possible, prompting people to ask what you’ve been doing differently, rather than immediately noticing that you have had a hair transplant.
Shaun’s story with his previous hair transplant
Shaun very openly shared his previously unsatisfactory hair transplant experience to raise awareness about the potential dangers of being drawn into unregulated, black-market hair transplant offers, as well as the importance of not letting the desperation to address hair loss cloud your judgement.
Increasing rate of repair cases tracked by The Treatment Rooms London
At our clinic, we have seen a 166% increase in repair enquiries in 2025 compared to 2024, with a rate of 2.7 enquiries per week. So far in 2026, the rate sits at around 2 enquiries per week from January to June 2026, with the main concerns being poor growth and density, as well as poorly planned design resulting in unnatural outcomes.
Dr Vara, our leading hair transplant surgeon who performed corrective hair transplant surgery for Shaun, also shared his professional advice for anyone considering a hair transplant as a treatment option for their hair loss:
- Do your research;
- Ensure you meet your surgeon and know who will be operating on you;
- Make sure the clinic is adequately accredited according to the healthcare standards of the country you’re being treated in – in the UK, that means your surgeon should be GMC-registered, and your clinic CQC-accredited;
- And finally, look for real patient testimonials and lived experiences at the clinic.
These are all very important starting points to keep in mind when considering hair transplant surgery.
