The picture below was taken in December,  2013 in a friendly match between Catalonia XI and Cape Verde. At this time, he was a key player for Barcelona FC. You can see a subtle and early sign of hair thinning along his frontal hairline, with an M-shape forming.

Joining Chelsea (June 2014)

Six months later, Cesc Fabregas joined Chelsea FC with the hair loss clearly progressing and now at Norwood 3. The M-shape looks more defined at this stage, making his baldness more visible.

The crown thinning is also mildly visible but appears to be cleverly concealed through styling.

If left untreated, the hair loss would typically have continued to advance toward Norwood 3-4.

When Did Cesc Fabregas Have His Hair Transplant?

While there is no public announcement from him to formally confirm when he had the hair transplant, there were visible changes between 2013 and 2014. Around this time, he was sporting a low haircut, which is uncharacteristic of him. 

A closer review of his hair also shows signs of normal post-hair transplant shedding and dot-like spots around the receding hairline. He likely had a UFUE hair transplant at the time or a well-planned FUE technique that allows him to get back to playing on time.
