Gordon Ramsay’s Hair Loss Timeline

Using pictures of him over the years, we will now review his hair loss and the recovery in his hair since.

Earlier career: temple recession

Photographs in the 2000s show the start of hairline recession and a subtle degree of hair loss at his temples. This pattern is the typical “M” shape of male pattern baldness.

Between 2010 and 2011

Our review of available pictures at this time showed a now thicker hair density, with the hairline looking more youthful.

The hair recovery appears to look natural, with the areas with earlier baldness or recession now looking restored.

2014: Further refinement along frontal hairline

At this time, we observed a more subtle improvement in his hair, while the previous restoration still looked visible.

He likely had his second hair transplant as a follow-up procedure to cover other balding areas.

Natural hairline maintained

After the suspected second hair transplant, he now sports a fuller head of hair with no signs of current hair loss. He has continued to have full and youthful hair since then. It’s important to note that having a hair transplant does not permanently stop male pattern baldness from progressing in the areas with no previous balding.

Minoxidil and Finasteride medications are recommended to prevent further shedding and produce permanent results. These are medications that Gordon may have chosen to take after his procedures.

What Type of Hair Transplant Did Gordon Ramsay Have? 

There is almost no evidence to suggest that Ramsay shaved his hair for his hair transplant. Ramsay maintained longer hair during his suspected recovery. 

In 2011, Ramsay was spotted soon after leaving the hair transplant clinic with David Beckham. He sported a longer hairstyle more in line with how he usually styled his hair at the time, not the completely shaven head expected from a traditional transplant. 

Similarly, in 2014, the bulk of Ramsay’s hair seemed untouched apart from the undercut and redness around his obscured hairline. Within a few months, Ramsay changed his hairstyle from a pulled-forward fringe to styling his hair up and displaying a very healthy, full hairline.
